By The Hand Club For Kids™
(formerly known as Kids' Club)

Since its beginning in 2001 with 16 children, By The Hand has witnessed tremendous transformation within the lives of our kids—and as an organization. This year we will serve 851 kids and, we hope, 1,000 by the year 2012. As we continue to grow, we’re reaching out to more children in different neighborhoods and introducing ourselves to new supporters across the country.

Our name, By The Hand captures the essence of what distinguishes our after-school program from others. We literally and figuratively take kids by the hand and walk alongside them from the time they enroll in our program until they’re walking independently as well-adjusted, responsible adults. We tutor them to academic excellence. We mentor them to reach their full potential. And we care for them as our own.

Every year Eagle Rock participates in the Boxes of Love program.  We collect 50 boxes of Thanksgiving dinners during the months of October and November and By The Hand supplies the Boxes, Turkeys & Bibles.  On Saturday, November 19th we go to the Altgeld neighborhood and hand them out.  We meet at the church that morning at 9AM to carpool to Chicago.  Everyone is welcome to participate.  Food collection is in the REJOICE Hall.  We are still in need of 30 boxes being filled.  Each box needs 1- Mashed Potato Boxed, Cornbread Mix, Stuffing Mix, can of green beans, corn, cranberry sauce, sweet potatoes, cake mix, frosting.
